deeFind @StyleX SXSW

  • Dierdre Wallace of deeFind  - Inspired by living in San Francisco, I wanted to design shoes that were quite unique, works of art and offered accessibility to women to really bare all in deeFind shoes. Conceptually futuristic architecture has always been appealing to me: dynamic angles, bold lines, audacious structural gestures — all frequently reflected in my design aesthetic. In keeping with the sensibilities of futurism exploring, the desired outcome was incorporate sustainable materials, while providing drop-dead sexy, eco-friendly products. Working hard to produce the most refined designs I am capable of, as I fanatically search for alternative materials and creative methods. Each handmade pair of deeFind shoes is constructed in humane working conditions with comparable wages.

Following a daring debut in 2011, Style X returns to the family of SXSW events for its second year. Featuring talented up-and-coming designers, this pop up retail event showcases the latest trends at the intersection of design and the creative industries. This industry and consumer event will offer everything from streetwear to menswear designers, shoes, eyewear and other accessories, and will pair emerging artists with established, iconic fashion brands.

Dario Smith ( @ http://dslitephoto.tumblr.com/) hails from Oakland, CA and majored in photo journalism with a heavy emphasis on fashion and style. He defines style as an extension of ones character and believes that fashion is the grounds for sophistication. In harmony these two create the classic and innovative art that we’ve come to love on a universal level. This concept of aesthetics has always been an umbrella to his trajectory.     He shoots to capture this sartorial harmony locally in mandate to express the notion that the San Francisco Bay Area “does” have an iconic flare that is not always noted in magazines, blogs, or in general fashion media. He is dedicated to seeing a brighter future for the SF Bay area fashion and style community and makes a point to capture all of the glory that the local landscape has to offer, fashion wise, to share with the world. So put on your best ensemble Bay Area, he’s looking for you!

Indie Bazaar 2 - Spotlight: Fancy French Cologne

Fancy French Cologne is owned and operated by two ladies not unlike yourself.

We are Christine Bolghand and Carly Schneider-Clark. We live in San Francisco, where we met in 2004 and formed an indie rock band called Finest Dearest. After several releases and countless tours across the United States, the band called it quits and we launched Fancy French Cologne as our newest venture together. During this time, we have come to discover that the similarities in running a business and being in a touring band are quite striking! You can read more about our process on our blog, which dates back to our first month as a business.

As Fancy French Cologne, we are committed to bringing you a unique perspective on the online shopping experience—one that conjures the intimacy of browsing your favorite local boutique. We’ve hand-selected every style you see in our shop, and are especially proud of our curated selection of handmade items, which we worked with our designers to customize just for you. We personally love everything you see, and hope that you will too.
