San Francisco's status as a fashion destination is decidedly on deck. The unmistakably stylish metropolis has nurtured emerging fashion markets for decades, inspiring the organic creativity of its inhabitants as their work consistently commands attention on a global scale. Nevertheless, the creative soul of San Francisco has learned to share its emerging spotlight with the world’s leading technological core: Silicon Valley.

Tech’s role in fashion is clear: the indisputable force of social media outlets, influencers and media moguls, well-funded startups, and an immersive new future of retail has turned the industry into an undeniably technological product. However, fashion has been generally apprehensive to adapt to many evident technological advances in outsider fields.

San Francisco Fashion Week 2018 aims to curb this apprehension. The event’s theme, "Bridging The Fashion Gap," reflects a vision to nurture emerging talents and highlight the future of fashion’s captivating ecosystem through sustainability, manufacturing, and technology. Our goal is to separate ourselves from other standout fashion cities through an atypical emphasis on Silicon Valley's robust technology sector.

In San Francisco, we're working on balancing the economy by leveraging our world-leading technology and assets to redevelop other strategic cultural and economic sectors. San Francisco Fashion Week implements this innovative approach by combining educational programs, technological advancements and entrepreneurship to continuously nurture creative communities in fashion, wearables, retail, design, immersive technologies, new media and the arts.

We’re seeking to reestablishing our city’s local manufacturing economy through avid outreach to international fashion communities. We hope to promote San Francisco/Silicon Valley both as a global hub for technological development and a promising world-class style destination. San Francisco Fashion Week 2018 aims to disrupt the international retail sector as the the next emerging fashion market wherein technology is an obvious driving force.

The eBay Fashion Selling Style Studio set up shop this weekend at Union Square in the heart of San Francisco. With the pop-up Fashion Selling Style Studio touring the country, eBay is focused squarely on the increasing popularity of fashionistas who buy and sell fashion items from their own closets. New mobile apps, celebrity stylists, and tips from top sellers are all designed to make the process of selling your excess fashion finds seamless and rewarding. New registrations were entered in a drawing for the new Apple iPad. Many thanks to our eBay consultants Nick and Melissa who enthusiastically gave us the grand tour of eBay’s new fashion initiative. Be on the lookout for more eBay “fashion industry” collaborations in the future! Robert Nixon
